![]() Since each check engine code has its own level of severity, it is usually difficult to predict how many miles you can be secure in driving with the warning light on. If you check engine light is flashing, we advocate that you pull over and contact Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues to help determine if your car is secure to drive in or if we advocate a tow truck. ![]() The safest bet is to decipher the code and then plan your strategy accordingly. Still, you probably won't regret buying one, though you may get the occasional pang of FOMO when you see someone dashing around in a CX-5 or packing half their household belongings into the back of a CR-V.How many miles can you drive with the check engine light? It's not bad, definitely, but it's not great, either. This list of hit-and-miss qualities is what condemns the Chevrolet Equinox to being a middling vehicle. The smaller-capacity unit will never endow the compact SUV with any level of driving prowess, which is a shame because it has the potential to be a fun car. Yes, the automaker dropped the larger 2.0L option from the lineup because not many people were buying it, but having the choice was always nice. What we can complain about is the tired 1.5-liter engine. We can't fault the Chevy for its good comfort levels, though. And, while Chevrolet has done a good job of improving the overall quality of its vehicle, the Equinox is still not a very premium feeling car, especially considering it still costs more than the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5. Passenger space is ample, both up front and in the back, but the cargo area could be larger, with some rivals offering quite a bit more room. The creature comforts are a bit limited, though, unless you're willing to spend more on one of the upper trims. It's certainly a safe one, with mostly good ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS, and loads of safety features even on the cheaper base models. If you're not looking to make a splash or turn any heads, the Equinox is a perfectly suitable choice when it comes to a compact family SUV. Similarly, road and wind noise are not as well dampened as they could be. The larger wheels of the Premier and especially the RS negatively impact this. The heavy weight of the Chevy almost seems to smooth over any bumps it encounters. The brakes are also up to the task, with a good pedal feel and a lot of stopping power. If there was the ability to get a boost of power at these speeds when tackling curves and bends, it would actually be rather fun. The steering gains a bit of heft and feedback improves. If you have the patience to sit on the accelerator until you get up to a decent speed, this changes. This makes the compact crossover easy to maneuver in traffic or around busy parking lots. At lower speeds, where you're likely to spend most of your time, steering is light and responsive. It handles remarkably well for its size, which just makes the lack of power all the more depressing. ![]() You wouldn't be blamed for expecting rather lame driving from the Equinox, considering the feeble outputs of its four-pot powertrain. New exterior colors include Blue Glow Metallic, Seaglass Blue Metallic, Iron Gray Metallic, and the added-cost Cherry Red Tintcoat. All models will have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated exterior power-folding mirrors, and access to front and rear park assist and automatic parking assist. The Premier still tops the range, and it gets a black grille with chrome inserts to announce itself, as well as a premium interior trim finish and a logo-projection liftgate. It sports aggressive black exterior trim, along with 19-inch Dark Android wheels and black interior inserts with red contrast stitching. At the bottom of the lineup, the previous L model falls away, so the LS is the new entry-level variant. Both the base model and LT receive higher-quality interiors and the all-new RS model slots in above them. This is rounded out with brand-new LED headlamps and daytime running lights. ![]() The Equinox now boasts a new front and rear fascia, as well as a more enticing grille design. Instead, the mid-cycle refresh is focused purely on improving the quality of the vehicle. Much to the disappointment of gold bowtie fans, the Chevrolet Equinox is not seeing a return of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. ![]()

Infrastructure was dead, and wind is clearly a part of infrastructure,” he says. But from 2010-2013, there was policy paralysis in the country. One of the biggest challenges he faced was an unanticipated policy shift: In 2012, barely three years after Inox Wind was set up, the then Congress government withdrew key benefits, including a generation-based incentive.“Renewables is something that is driven by policy and political intent. “Some people may say, ‘You are born with a silver spoon, but it is very easy to lose it all in the third generation,” he says. “Inox Wind is set to become the most profitable company in the ($4 billion) Inox Group this fiscal,” he tells Forbes India.ĭevansh believes he cannot afford to fail because of the robust reputation that the Inox Group enjoys. ![]() ![]() He is confident of its continued success. With a corpus of Rs 40 crore borrowed from Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited, he started Inox Wind in 2009, at a time when major players like Suzlon and Bharat Forge were stumbling. But the Inox Group was looking to diversify, and given India’s energy deficit and the global thrust towards cleaner forms of energy, Devansh convinced his family of the power of wind. Neither his father nor his uncle Pavan (chairman and managing director of Inox Air Products) had prior experience in this sector. When he returned to India from the US in 2007, he shadowed his father Vivek (managing director, Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited) for two years before deciding to enter the renewable energy sector. “We have a market cap of almost a billion-and-a-half dollars,” says Devansh, who, as director of his company, is the youngest family member to hold a position in the chemicals-to-multiplexes Inox Group. His company, Inox Wind, the renewable wind energy solutions provider, raised Rs 1,000 crore and was oversubscribed 18 times. Balliol being a college of Oxford, and the one that Hook purportedly attended.īarrie's inquiry unearths books Hook withdrew from the library while at Oxford, "all of them, oddly enough, poetry, and mostly of the lake school " and a curious medical record indicating that Hook, when hurt on the football pitch, had 'bled yellow. "We should not even know that he had been an Etonian but for the statement 'Eton and Balliol' in a work that is probably unreliable," he told his young audience, referring to his own writing. The lecture is here and it is magnificent.īarrie takes the tone of an investigative reporter or prosecutor-judge, dutifully presenting the facts he has found. The prompt, as given by the provost a month prior, was to refute the statement: "James Hook, the pirate captain, was a great Etonian, but not a good one." In 1927, more than two decades after the story was put to page, Barrie was invited to Eton to give a lecture. Indeed, Hook's dying words in the play are " Floreat Etona": "May Eton flourish," the school's crested motto. From Eton we can make sense of Hook's reverence for good form his "distinguished slouch " and, Barrie wrote, the fact that "e was never more sinister than when he was at his most polite, which is probably the truest test of breeding." Yes, James Hook, or Jas., as he is now known to have referred to himself, was an old Etonian, and a Pop at that. ![]() And its traditions and arcane wall game, an amalgamation of rugby and soccer played against a brick wall and found nowhere else in the world, make it is as close to Hogwarts as mortals and Muggles will likely find. ![]() The name, for many Brits, is synonymous with privilege. You can save 16-bit grayscale images in a number of formats, but if you add layers, your choices are limited to Photoshop, Large Document Format, PNG, PDF, and Photoshop Raw, and TIFF. But that redundancy translates into editing headroom, so if your camera or scanner can capture 12 or more bits per pixel, it's often worthwhile bringing the high-bit data into Photoshop.Įight-bit grayscale images are pretty generic, so you can save them in almost any format this side of MacPaint. With 16-bit grayscale, each pixel has a value from 0 (black) to 32,768 (white), for a theoretical maximum of 32,769 possible gray shades.įew capture devices can actually deliver all those gray shades, so 16-bit files usually have rather a lot of redundancy. With 8-bit grayscale, each pixel has a value from 0 (black) to 255 (white), so there are a maximum of 256 levels of gray possible. Eight-bit is still more common, although most scanners now allow you to bring more than 8 bits into Photoshop. Grayscale files in Photoshop are always either 8- or 16-bit images: Anything less than 8-bit gets converted to 8-bit anything more than 8-bit gets converted to 16-bit. For instance, you can't use any filters, and because there's no such thing as anti-aliasing in 1-bit images, you just cannot use tools that require this, such as the Smudge tool, the Blur tool, or the Dodge/Burn tool.īilevel bitmaps are the most generic of images, so you can save them in almost any file format. The other major difference between the other image modes and Bitmap mode is that you're much more limited in the sorts of image editing you can do. ![]() Ordinarily, images are opaque, except for the occasional white silhouetted background made with clipping paths (see "Silhouettes" in Chapter 12, Essential Image Techniques). One-bit pictures have a particular difference from other images when it comes to PostScript printing: the white areas throughout the image can appear transparent, showing through to whatever the image is printing over. He insists that all images in Photoshop are bitmapped, but only "flat" black-and-white images, in which each pixel is defined using one bit of data (a zero or a one), are bitmaps. Bitmapĭavid really wishes that Adobe had picked a different word for this image mode. ![]() We'll talk more about this in Chapter 13, Image Storage and Output. For instance, you can't save as JPEG if the file is in Lab mode. Note that the mode your image is in determines the file formats you can save in. Each of the following image modes appears on Photoshop's Mode menu. Fortunately, they're the most important of the bunch, at least for those in the world of graphic arts. Photoshop reads and writes only a handful of the many different color modes they came up with. So color scientists created a whole mess of ways for us to describe colors with some precision-to each other and to a computer. However, even Bruce and David can't agree on what navy blue looks like, much less you and your printer. In a perfect world, you could say to a printer, "I'd like this box to be navy blue," and they'd know exactly what you were talking about. Ultimately, an image mode is simply a method of organizing the bits to describe a color. Fortunately, Photoshop makes it easy to see what image mode an image is in, as well as to convert it to a different mode, if you want. That 165 could represent a level of gray, or a particular color, or it might be only one member of a set of three or four other 8-bit values. As we said earlier, a pixel can have a value of 165, but that doesn't mean anything until you know what image mode the image lives in. ![]() ![]() ![]() You can really see how the Warriors utilized Poole when you take a close look at the play-type data provided by Synergy and available on NBA.com.
